Why we created this guide

A Real Family Story, Not Generic Advice

When I found out I was pregnant with Joy, one of my first thoughts was: what about Buddy?

He had been my shadow, my walking buddy and my first baby in so many ways. I worried he would feel replaced.

This guide brings together what we experienced, what helped, what we wish we had done earlier and the practical lessons we learned as our family changed.

It is based on our lived experience, supported by guidance from recognised animal-welfare, veterinary and dog-and-baby education resources.
